The Progresstech Airport Design Department has presented the project entitled “Concept of International Airport Terminal Using Spiral Ramp Pattern” at Young Professionals Innovation Competition, international airport infrastructure innovation competition organized by Airport Consultants Council (ACC).

The main idea of the submitted presentation is to construct the air terminal building with two spiral ramps, one of them is designed for departures, and the other, for arrivals. The ramps are independent and exclude any intersection of arrived and departed passenger flows. Such configuration allows the departed and arrived passengers intuitively get the right direction to the gates or baggage claim area taking into account the floor surface slope. The spiral ramp can minimize any inconvenience and confusion of different passenger flows, reduce a number of escalators on the passenger paths and increase the number of rooms with natural light. The rooms may be located on the inner and outer envelope of the building.

The project team: Dmitry Bratko (author of concept), Artemy Minochkin (management), Oksana Verigina (architecture) and Maksim Stepanuk (design). The competition winners will be announced in December of 2015.
